Her career was a huge success selling over twenty million albums worldwide which included an impressive five million of Affection. She was named by Billboard magazine as the forty-sixth most successful dance artist of all time.
Lisa had various appearances on TV and released her first singles before forming Blue Zone in 1986 with Ian Devaney and Andy Morris. The band released several singles and an album before Lisa went on to focus on her solo career due to the success of People Hold On by Coldcuts which Lisa had featured in.
Her major career breakthrough happened in 1989 when she released her first solo album Affection, this consisted of worldwide chart-topping lead single All Around the World. Following the success of her first album she was nominated for two Grammy Awards. Lisa continued to release albums such as Real Love in 1991, So Natural in 1993 and Lisa Stansfield in 1997 however Affection is still her best-selling album to date.
When she's not singing, she is also an established actress and in 1999 she appeared in her first film, Swing, which she also recorded the soundtrack for. Following this film she released even more albums including Face Up in 2001, Biography: The Greatest Hits in 2003 and The Moment in 2004 before going back to acting. Lisa went on to star in The Edge of Love in 2014 and appeared in Northern Soul.
Lisa's success as an artist has seen her win many awards especially in 1990 and 1991 when she received a Billboard Music Video Award, two BRIT Awards, two Ivor Novello Awards, a World Music Award and a Silver Clef Award. In 1992 she went on to win another BRIT Award and then in 2005 she won the Women's World Awards.
