In 1977, the band Vice Versa was born, which soon became ABC. Formed initially by Stephen Singleton and Mark White, two synthesizer players, they debuted at the Outlook club in Sheffield. From there, the band evolved into ABC, led by Martin Fry. Due to their iconic sound, a mix of funk, punk and disco, ABC have garnered fans from all over the world. From corporate parties to wedding receptions, audiences are enchanted by ABC's nostalgic setlist and talented performance. In the Vice Versa days of the band, Martin interviewed them for the fanzine, Modern Drugs. From there, he was asked to join Vice Versa as their lead singer in the 80s - this is when they morphed into ABC. In the late 20th century, ABC enjoyed chart-topping success. Since their first single, Tears Are Not Enough, which made the UK Top 20, the band enjoyed number one positions in the charts, for such releases as The Lexicon of Love, Beauty Stab and Alphabet City.
Following a short break, ABC continued to release music met with critical acclaim. The album, Skyscraping, paid tribute to some of Marten's music heroes, including David Bowie and Sex Pistols. In 2009, ABC performed at the Royal Albert Hall, which was described by critics as a; "Glorious night that has placed one of the Eighties most perfectly constructed albums back near the top of the pop pantheon." While featuring at events, ABC can create the same magical nostalgia they did in 2009.
